Steve Kauffman, LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist)
|

Steve Kauffman has been a massage therapist
since 1989 when he completed his
studies and practice at the New Mexico Academy of
Healing Arts in Santa Fe.
Before starting his own practice in 1992, Steve
worked at the Cliff Spa in
Snowbird, Utah. Steve continued his training by
certifying in St John's
Neuromuscular Therapy in 1995. Steve opened
Streamline Bodyworks with his wife,
Eva, in 2000 where he manages operations and
finances while maintaining his
massage practice.
In 2012 Steve studied the work of John Barnes and
his approach to myofascial
release. The fascia is a tough connective tissue
that creates an uninterrupted
3-dimensional web throughout the body from head to
foot. Stress, trauma,
postural habits, and inflammation causes this
fascial web to bind down putting
excessive pressure on muscles, blood vessels,
boney structures, organs, and
nerves, which can translate as pain or lack of
motion. This is that feeling of
being stuck. The myofascial release
technique (MFR) consists of gentle
application of sustained pressure into the fascial
restrictions. The essential
element of long, slow, and oppositional holds
allows the viscous flow in the
fascia to elongate. The result is greater painless
mobility.
Studies show the viscoelastic quality of the
fascial system causes it to resist
applied force. Therefore the old school
forms of deep tissue or
structural integration is forcing a system that
cannot be forced and produces
limited results and in some cases, more pain. For
Steve, it has been a
fascinating journey of new discoveries, more
healing doors to open, and an
inherent truth in his bodywork. For the first time
in 20 years he is truly
inspired to integrate these techniques into his
sessions and has noticed
profound results in his clients. Steve fully
believes in the massage component
of our physical lives and mental well-being.

Kirsten Phipps - LAc (Licensed Acupuncturist)
|

Kristen is native to Salt Lake City and
recently moved
back after 6 years in Austin,
Texas. The amazing mountains here lured

Graduate School of Integrative
Medicine in 2011 where she completed her
Master's Degree in Oriental
Medicine. She has been practicing ever
since. She is licensed in Texas
and Utah as a L.Ac and is certified in
Oriental Medicine by the National
Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(NCCAOM) .
Acupuncture is one of the oldest
and most commonly used medical
procedures in the world,
originating in China over 2,000 years ago. An
acupuncture treatment typically
includes single use, hair thin, filiform
needles to penetrate the skin and
stimulate anatomical points throughout
the body to promote healing. Also
cupping, herbal liniments, suggestions
of medical qi gong lifestyle, and
tuina may be offered. A
certified Chinese herbalist,
Kristen views herbs as a powerful adjunct
to acupuncture. An herbal consult
is part of the treatment, however, the
herbs themselves are an additional
cost. Acupuncture and herbs can treat
most ailments and conditions;
Kristen specializes in back pain, women's
health, stress, emotional
disorders and digestive concerns. It is her
passion to alleviate pain and
suffering with Oriental Medicine and serve
her community in such a beneficial
way. Office hours are
typically Sunday through Thursday 10-6.
